The Medical Office Assistant (MOA) provides essential clinical and administrative support to physicians and surgeons in an OB-GYN faculty practice. The MOA assists with patient care and various office tasks to ensure high-quality healthcare delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Assist with patient care: escorting, dressing, transferring, prepping for exams.
- Perform venipuncture, EKGs, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
- Support physicians during procedures and take vital signs.
- Relay instructions to patients/families and answer patient inquiries.
- Maintain exam rooms and sterilize instruments per infection control protocols.
- Monitor medication/supply expiration dates and dispose of as per policy.
- Manage and update patient charts, medical records, and documentation.
- Enter orders and prepare prescription refill requests in EMR for physician review.
- Schedule surgeries/procedures and coordinate related paperwork and consents.
- Perform registration, update insurance/demographic details, verify coverage, and handle pre-certifications.
- Inventory and restock medical supplies.
- Log refrigeration, sterilization, crash cart, and point-of-care testing as needed.
- Maintain a safe and compliant work environment by following PPE and safety standards.
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Medical Office Assistant (MOA); 3+ years preferred.
- Certifications: Certification from an approved Medical Assistant school preferred.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in MS Office Suite; EMR experience a plus.
- Other: Strong communication skills; familiarity with multicultural patient interactions; phlebotomy experience desirable.
