Job Title: Patient Services Representative II (PSR II)
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, representing the face of the organization in both routine healthcare services and life-defining health decisions. This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood specimen collection and preparation for laboratory testing while ensuring patient safety, confidentiality, and accuracy. The PSR II builds trust with patients by explaining procedures clearly and performing venipuncture in a skillful, safe, and professional manner. Assignments may include work at a Patient Service Center, physician office, or other locations based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities

Perform daily duties accurately and on time under the direction of the Area Supervisor

Maintain a safe, clean, and professional working environment

Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing in accordance with established policies and procedures
-
Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture to confirm correct specimen labeling in the patient’s presence
-
Accurately label, handle, and prepare specimens for laboratory testing

Maintain all required records, logs, and documentation
-
Demonstrate leadership behaviors and commitment to process excellence

Protect patient confidentiality and ensure data accuracy at all times

Promote a positive company image to patients, clients, employees, and the general public

Scheduling & Flexibility Requirements

Flexible availability required, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime

Must be available to work whenever scheduled and remain for the entire assigned shift

Travel required to multiple locations with minimal notice

Training locations may vary based on trainer availability
Transportation & Commute Requirements

Must have reliable transportation (bus, Uber, or rideshare services are not considered reliable)

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required if applicable

Candidates must live within a 20–25 minute commute of the assigned work location

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)

Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)

Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred)

Required in California, Nevada, and Washington

Work Experience Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections
-
At least 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment (Preferred)

Customer service experience in a retail or service environment (Preferred)

Previous keyboarding/data entry experience required
