Job Title: Laboratory Technician 
Job Location: Philadelphia, PA 19112
Job Type: 4 Months+ Contract Role


SCHEDULE: Mon - Fri 8:00 am - 4:30 pm


Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the design of experiments, conduct those experiments independently and collect, summarize and present the resulting data
  • Troubleshoot problems as they arise in the laboratory, collaborate with research investigators when erroneous or unexpected results occur
  • Identify and suggest improvements in methods
  • Producing research experimental results, or information/data management results, or assembling and configuring of small/pilot scale equipment and control systems utilizing a variety of techniques
  • Documenting findings and communicating results
  • Makes suggestions on path forward and contributes to formulating work plans and managing daily workflow
  • Inspects and performs routine maintenance on equipment used to conduct experiments
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of chemicals and/or supplies necessary for the completion of experiments
  • Maintain a safe working environment
  • Preparation and evaluation of coating formulations including electro-coat, primer, topcoat and clear coat using mixing equipment and various spray equipment
  • Accurately running and recording test results for all coatings formulations
  • Interpretation and communication of test results using computer-based systems.
  • Documentation of experimental test results using computer programs such as Word, Excel
  • Safely handle, categorize, and dispose of chemicals on a routine basis
  • Handling multiple tasks under strict time constraints
 
Requirements:
  • A 2-year degree from a college or technical school with at least three years of experience in an industrial laboratory environment, or a 4-year degree in a physical or life science
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills to be able to work well in both self-managed and team environment
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting established deadlines
  • Comfortable working with hazardous materials
  • Strong interest in hands-on work to ensure a good understanding of the products
  • Comfortable working with large machinery and troubleshooting mechanical issues
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Effective problem solver
  • Possess strong computer and analytical skills
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
