Location: 1155 Northern Blvd, Manhasset, NY 11030
Department: Gastroenterology
Contract Type: 13 weeks (possible extension)
Hours: 40 hours/week, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week
Shift Hours: Vary depending on procedure start times
Pay Rate: $21/hour on W2
Role Overview:
The Medical Assistant will perform various clinical, clerical, and patient care duties in a certified laboratory and medical office setting. The role includes diagnostic procedures, assisting physicians with examinations, and performing clerical tasks using electronic medical records (EMR).

Diagnostic Laboratory Procedures:
- Perform routine diagnostic procedures for isolation and identification of microbial pathogens.
- Prepare specimens and operate automated analyzers, while performing manual tests as required.
- Maintain knowledge of laboratory techniques and the physiological factors influencing test results.
- Conduct special projects, assist with product evaluations, and perform quality control procedures.

Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Organize patient flow, assist patients in exam/procedure rooms, and assist with mobility, specimen collection, and point-of-care testing.
- Take vital signs, assist physicians during procedures, and relay instructions to patients and families.
- Provide patient support and preparation for exams.

Clerical Responsibilities:
- Manage patient medical records, lab reports, and referrals, ensuring all documents are properly filed.
- Enter orders into the EMR system and assist with prescription refill requests.
- Inventory and restock medical supplies, ensuring availability and proper organization.
- Set up exam rooms and ensure instruments are sterilized according to hospital policies.

Education:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- BLS certification required.
- Certified Medical Assistant or completion of a Medical Assistant program with 2 years of experience.

Experience/Skills:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant or 2 years of relevant experience Required.
- Excellent phone manners, computer data entry skills, and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
