Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Waterloo, IA (onsite; may travel locally for meetings)
Duration: 24 Months Contract
Shift: 1st shift (7:00 am 3:30 pm); must be open to short-term 3rd shift (2-3 months based on build schedules). Overtime possible.
Visa Sponsorship: Not available now or in the future.
Position Overview:
Join our Manufacturing Engineering team supporting production operations and continuous improvement initiatives. The engineer will spend approximately 50% of their time on the shop floor and may travel to other Waterloo facilities for training. After completing training, the role may involve operating a Gator for onsite duties. Business casual attire is required; metatarsal shoes/boots must be worn on the first day.
Responsibilities:
Support manufacturing and distribution processes, quality improvement, tooling and tool design.
Utilize computer-aided design and engineering tools (AutoCAD, Creo, etc.).
Apply Design for Manufacturing principles; work on incentive pay systems and ergonomics.
Participate in capital budgeting, equipment justification, and facility improvement.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams; communicate effectively and solve problems.
Execute and support continuous improvement projects.
Adapt to line/process design changes, material flow/presentation, visual management, and cycle balancing.
May operate a Gator onsite following successful completion of training.
Required Skills & Experience:
Proficiency in CAD/engineering software.
Understanding of manufacturing/distribution processes and quality systems.
Knowledge of tooling, tool design, and preventive maintenance.
Experience with Design for Manufacturing and Ergonomics principles.
Awareness of capital budgeting processes.
Background in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics, Power Systems, etc.).
Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
2+ years in Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design, Material Flow, Operations, Supply Management, or Quality.
1+ years in line/process design, visual management, or material presentation.
Experience with Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP).
Familiarity with SAP, Creo-view, AutoCAD, and MAAP.
Demonstrated project management and continuous improvement success.
Education:
Bachelor s degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
Software Proficiency:
Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word
AutoCAD, Creo, SAP
Interview Process:
Initial interviews conducted via Microsoft Teams
