Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative (PSR) serves as the primary point of contact for patients and represents the organization with professionalism and compassion. This position is responsible for performing high-quality blood collections and specimen processing while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. The PSR follows all company policies, laboratory protocols, and regulatory requirements to ensure accuracy and compliance.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform venipuncture, capillary, and butterfly blood draws on patients of all ages, ensuring proper identification, labeling, and specimen integrity.

  • Verify patient identity, confirm demographic details, and obtain signatures post-collection to ensure accurate specimen labeling.

  • Prepare, process, and transport specimens according to laboratory protocols and safety guidelines.

  • Create a welcoming and professional environment by building patient trust, explaining procedures clearly, and maintaining confidentiality.

  • Perform both clinical and forensic specimen collection and documentation accurately and efficiently.

  • Maintain required logs, records, and documentation in compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, and OSHA standards.

  • Ensure adherence to infection control procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors through accountability, teamwork, and process excellence.

  • Support multiple collection sites or patient service centers as business needs require.

  • Follow company policies regarding dress code, safety, and attendance, maintaining a professional image at all times.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, supervisors, and healthcare staff to ensure smooth workflow and excellent customer service.




Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum 2–3 years of recent phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric draws.

  • Proven ability to deliver accurate, error-free work in a fast-paced clinical or laboratory environment.

  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, and potential overtime or on-call assignments.

  • Reliable transportation to assigned worksites (personal vehicle required; public transit/rideshare not accepted).

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (if applicable).

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and empathy.

  • Commitment to patient confidentiality, safety, and excellence in service.




Work Environment:

  • May be assigned to a hospital, physician office, or patient service center, depending on business needs.

  • Must be punctual, reliable, and capable of covering multiple locations on short notice.

  • Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.

  • Location: Northern Light Hospital (NLH)

  • Pre-employment Requirements: Drug screen and credentialing (no physical required).

  • Attendance Policy: Excessive tardiness or absenteeism will result in termination.
