Phlebotomist II

Job Description: The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of the company for patients seeking healthcare services, either for routine care or critical health decisions. The PSR II is responsible for drawing high-quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing, following established practices and procedures. This position involves direct patient interaction, where the PSR II ensures a trusting and confident environment by clearly explaining procedures and performing blood draws in a safe, accurate, and skillful manner. The PSR II is expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors, focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and precision in patient information.

• Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.

• Maintain a safe and professional environment.

• Confidently handle both forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing, adhering to established protocols.

• Perform verification of patient demographic information, including patient signature post-venipuncture, to verify tubes were labeled in their presence and that the name on the label is correct.

• Maintain accurate records and documentation.

• Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image of the company while providing excellent service to patients, clients, employees, and the general public.

• Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.

• Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric patients.

• Flexible and available for various shifts based on staffing needs, including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime.

• Committed to all policies and procedures, including company dress code, employee health and safety, and everyday excellence guiding principles.

• Must be able to make decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.

• Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).

• Travel and flexible hours required to work at multiple locations and cover at patient service center/in-office phlebotomy locations with minimal notice.

• Capable of handling multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

• Must demonstrate superior customer focus; ability to communicate openly and transparently with peers, supervisors, and patients; ability to accelerate and embrace change; and knowledge of our business.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred.

• Phlebotomy certification is preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

• A minimum of 3 years of phlebotomy experience is required, inclusive of pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

• Minimum of 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.

• Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is preferred.

• Keyboard/data entry experience is essential.
