Forensic Processing Technician

Job Title: Forensic Processing Technician (Part-Time)
Location: Lenexa, KS
Duration: 3 months +, temp to hire
Schedule: Part-Time, 16 hours/week
Work Days: Tuesday & Saturday

  • 5 positions: 5:00 AM – 1:30 PM
  • 5 positions: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM



Position Summary:

The Forensic Processing Technician is responsible for performing routine daily sample processing tasks within the Forensic Toxicology Processing Department. Reporting to the Supervisor of Forensic Processing, this role includes receiving, sorting, and processing biological specimens in accordance with strict forensic standards. Technicians must adhere to safety protocols, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and maintain a commitment to high-quality service.




Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain a functional understanding of the QTN Lab Information System
  • Sort specimens by source (e.g., hair, oral fluid, urine) and by work list
  • Complete Maxilog data entry tasks accurately
  • Follow strict forensic procedures and chain-of-custody protocols
  • Independently process urine specimens for both regulated and non-regulated testing
  • Adhere to all company policies and safety procedures
  • Scan and image custody and control forms efficiently
  • Discard negative specimens per protocol
  • Perform Flexilog processing on urine specimens at a minimum of 70 custody and control forms (CCFs) per hour
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the supervisor



Qualifications:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience: Prior laboratory or specimen processing experience preferred
  • Skills and Attributes:
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Practical knowledge of computer systems and data entry
    • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality assurance
    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
    • Comfortable working in a laboratory environment and adhering to safety standards
    • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
