Duration: 3 Months+ (High Possible for Extension)
Job Summary:
Under general supervision of the Respiratory Therapy Supervisor, the Respiratory Therapist delivers life-support, resuscitation, monitoring, and various medical gas therapies to patients. The therapist performs invasive and non-invasive diagnostic procedures primarily for patients in Intensive Care Units (Adult ICU or Neonatal ICU) and General Practice Units. The role requires maintaining clinical expertise, effective communication with patients, physicians, co-workers, and other healthcare personnel, and accurate documentation of all patient care activities. Additionally, the Respiratory Therapist will supervise, direct, and delegate tasks to Respiratory Therapy staff, orient new therapists, externs, and students as assigned. Accurate completion of patient billing information is also a responsibility.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide respiratory care including life-support and resuscitation in ICU settings.
- Perform invasive and non-invasive diagnostic respiratory procedures.
- Deliver medical gas therapies to patients.
- Maintain clinical competency and keep updated on departmental protocols.
- Communicate clearly with patients, physicians, co-workers, and other hospital staff regarding patient care needs.
- Document patient care activities comprehensively and accurately.
- Supervise, delegate, and provide guidance to Respiratory Therapists, orient new hires, externs, and students.
- Complete and submit accurate billing information related to patient care.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
- Good communication and organizational skills.
- Experience working in Adult ICU or Neonatal ICU settings. (Note: Long-term care facility-only experience is not acceptable for this role.)
Education & Certification:
- Associate of Science Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program (Required).
- Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Therapy preferred.
- Registered with the National Board for Respiratory Care.
- Current Respiratory Therapist License in the State of Michigan.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
