The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for a defined group of patients in an inpatient environment. The RN demonstrates competency in delivering care primarily to an adult population and follows the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice (2nd Edition, 2010).

• Perform comprehensive assessments and identify diagnoses.

• Develop and implement individualized care plans with defined outcomes.

• Evaluate patient progress and adapt care accordingly.

• Contribute to quality improvement efforts using benchmarks and PDSA models.

• Identify workflow inefficiencies and suggest corrections.

• Respond promptly to patient needs and call lights.

• May function in the scrub role upon completion of required training/competency.

• Maintain safe, ethical, and environmentally sound practices.

• Communicate effectively with patients and colleagues.

• Advocate for patients, ensuring safety and equity in care delivery.

• Collaborate across care teams and promote professional nursing autonomy.

• Use appropriate resources for safe, effective, and cost-conscious care.

• Clinical competence and experience managing surgical inpatient populations – Required

• Nursing diploma or Associate's degree – Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing – Preferred

• Active Wisconsin RN License or Compact State License – Required

• BLS certification (AHA or AHA-approved equivalent) – Required
