Job Title: Scientist II | Gene Therapy Structural Biologist
Location; Waltham, MA 02451
Duration: 12 Months+ Possible Extension
Pay Range: $66 - $71/hr. on W2
Must have:
PhD Degree: Structural Biology, Biophysics, Molecular biology, biophysics, structural biology related degree
Must have experience:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Structural Biologist to join our team. This role will focus on elucidating the structural characteristics of AAV capsids to advance our gene therapy programs. This is a 1-year contract position, with the possibility to extend. This position is full-time on-site based in Waltham, MA.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and execute structural biology experiments to characterize AAV capsid proteins
• Utilize cryo-EM and other biophysical techniques to determine AAV capsid structures
• Analyze structure-function relationships to guide rational design of Client AAV vectors
• Collaborate with gene therapy and protein engineering teams to develop improved AAV vectors
• Present findings to internal teams and at scientific conferences
• Publish research in peer-reviewed journals
Qualifications:
• PhD (or equivalent) in Structural Biology, Biophysics, or closely related field; no post-doctoral experience necessary
• Necessary expertise in cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, or related structural biology techniques
• Preferred (but not essential) experience with structural characterization of viral capsids, preferably AAV
• Strong background in protein biochemistry and molecular biology
• Experience with structure-based protein engineering is highly desirable
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with computational modeling of protein structures
• Knowledge of gene therapy applications and vector development
• Familiarity with high-throughput screening approaches
• Track record of publications in structural biology or related fields
