Job Title: Phlebotomist
Location: Kalamazoo MI
Duration: 3months
Shift: Monday-Friday 730 to 400 pm
Position Summary:
The PSR II is a frontline representative of the organization, responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for lab testing. This role involves direct patient interaction, requiring skillful, safe, and compassionate service. PSR IIs work in a variety of settings, including patient service centers, doctors' offices, and other assigned locations, and are expected to maintain professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality always.
Primary Responsibilities:
Perform specimen collection (clinical and forensic) confidently and accurately.
Greet and interact with patients, creating a welcoming and trusting atmosphere.
Explain collection procedures to patients in a clear, respectful manner.
Accurately label and verify specimens in the presence of the patient.
Verify and document patient demographic information and obtain post-collection signatures.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and maintain a clean, professional environment.
Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and dress codes.
Maintain records, documentation, and compliance logs.
Demonstrate leadership behaviors and promote a culture of excellence.
Support other sites as needed, sometimes with little notice.
Job Requirements:
Skills & Competencies:
Proven phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent organizational skills; able to prioritize tasks in high-volume settings.
Strong attention to detail to ensure error-free work.
Superior customer service and communication skills.
Demonstrates adaptability and openness to change.
Maintains patient confidentiality and data accuracy.
Availability & Flexibility:
Willing and able to work weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
Able to travel between multiple sites on short notice.
Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).
Training may occur at alternate locations based on trainer availability.
Education Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent – REQUIRED
Experience Requirements:
Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience.
