Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Location: Lewisville, TX, 75067
Duration: 3 + Months (Possible Extension)

Shift: 1:00 pm - 9:30 pm Sunday - Thursday

Job Summary:
Detail-oriented Specimen Processing Technician I with strong data entry skills and the ability to support high-volume laboratory operations. Responsible for accurate specimen handling, processing, and data management while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and quality benchmarks.
 
Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform specimen processing tasks including pre-sort, A-station operations, centrifugation, aliquoting, and imaging/microfilming
  • Ensure accurate data entry (minimum 6,000 keystrokes/hour) and proper specimen labeling
  • Transport and deliver processed specimens to appropriate laboratory departments
  • Maintain strict adherence to CLIA, OSHA, and laboratory compliance regulations
  • Verify and understand specimen types and test requirements
  • Adapt to frequently changing test orders and compliance guidelines
  • Maintain productivity and meet departmental turnaround time goals
  • Follow all biohazard safety protocols and infection control standards
  • Communicate effectively with laboratory staff and cross-functional teams
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Demonstrate flexibility to meet night shifts, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call requirements

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in laboratory specimen processing or hospital lab setting
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory testing procedures
  • Experience in production or high-throughput environments
  • Healthcare or medical background preferred
