Job Title: Patient Services Representative II (PSR II)




Position Summary

The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization to patients seeking routine healthcare services and critical diagnostic information. This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood specimen collection and processing while maintaining a professional, safe, and compassionate environment. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, ensures adherence to established procedures, and maintains strict confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Assignments may include a physician’s office, Patient Service Center (PSC), or other locations based on business needs.




Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform daily duties accurately, efficiently, and on time under the direction of the Area Supervisor.

  • Collect blood specimens using venipuncture, capillary, forensic, and clinical collection techniques in accordance with established procedures.

  • Prepare, label, process, and package specimens for laboratory testing following standard protocols.

  • Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture to confirm proper labeling in the patient’s presence.

  • Maintain complete and accurate records and documentation.

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and professional work environment at all times.

  • Create a positive patient experience by explaining procedures clearly and providing reassurance.

  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive image to patients, clients, coworkers, and the public.

  • Uphold confidentiality and accuracy of all patient information in compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.




Job Requirements and Qualifications

  • Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting.

  • Demonstrated superior customer service and effective communication skills with patients, peers, and leadership.

  • Ability to make sound decisions based on established procedures and exercise good judgment.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, overtime, and variable schedules as staffing needs require.

  • Willingness and ability to travel and work across multiple locations, including Patient Service Centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, sometimes with minimal notice.

  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (if applicable).

  • Commitment to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.

  • Ability to adapt to change and understand organizational goals and business operations.




Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.




Work Experience

  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.

  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment highly preferred.

  • Keyboarding and data entry experience required.
