Job Description: Solar Analyst
Job Description:
Supports the operations and maintenance of the pole attached solar system and other aspects Clients solar programs as needed.
The Pole Attached Solar System (PASS) consists of a new AWS hosting platform connected to over 3200 Network Communicators (Company) and 160,000 Smart Energy Modules (SEMs) that are distributed on utility pole throughout the *** electric service territory. The Solar Technician would be responsible for testing, troubleshooting and managing field components (Company & SEMs) using a Client test station located at the solar warehouse facility at 3601 Kennedy Road in South Plainfield. This would include ensuring the field units are tested in a timely manner and ensuring they are turned over to overhead field crews to support their field.
The job requires someone with good analytical skills to help Client achieve its yearly energy generation goals. The job also requires general knowledge of Zigbee Mesh Network, Wi-Fi and cellular communication as well as a basic understanding of Linux. We are looking for someone who can analyze the network using troubleshooting software dashboards so that we can maximize energy out of the system and strengthen the communication of the field devices to the AWS PASS backend hosting system.
Work activities will include but is not limited to the following:
Test, troubleshoot, and repair solar panel components related to the pole attach system using test stations.
Monitor and track the performance of pole attach solar systems SEMs and NCs utilizing Clients analytical tools.
Create work orders for overhead field crews, review and verify field work performed utilizing analytical tools.
Create reports to demonstrate the performance of the pole attach solar system for management review.
Perform field visits to troubleshoot SEMs/Company and visually audit solar panels located on utility poles throughout Clients electric service territory.
Utilizing operational platforms, MEGA, AWS PASS, Google Maps, Excel, create troubleshooting field tickets for electrical line crews and track performance of crews.
Oversee and track warehouse operations, activities, and equipment inventory maintained by a 3rd party.
Support transfer of technology of the pole attached solar systems operating and maintenance system, operating and maintaining test benches, and repair system hardware and equipment.
Interact with key partner vendors that support the pole attach solar system.
Ensure warehouse and pole attached solar safety measures are in place and being followed.
Maintain and repair test stations and workspace, and make sure consumable items are maintained in sufficient quantity for effective and efficient operations.
Investigate and resolve identified data gaps and anomalies with analytical tools working with support personnel.
Support verifying vendor invoices.
Required Qualifications:
Valid driver license.
Bachelors degree or 5 years experience working with solar equipment and knowledge of zigbee mesh, Wi-Fi, and cellular communication technologies.
Experience repairing electrical components and utilizing test equipment / test stations.
General understanding of Linux, AWS, and Window Operating systems.
