Histology Technician
Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM 11:30 PM, MondayFriday
Location: Detroit
Contract Duration: 05/17/2026 08/22/2026
Schedule: 5x8s | 40 Hours/Week

Job Summary:
Under limited supervision, performs routine histology techniques on surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue according to standardized procedures. Responsible for operating and maintaining laboratory instruments and equipment required for tissue analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cut surgical, autopsy, research, and neuropathology tissue using a rotary microtome
- Embed tissue samples for processing
- Stain, coverslip, and label tissue slides
- Perform special stains under supervision following standardized procedures
- Maintain laboratory instruments, equipment, and solutions
- Monitor and document QC, QA, and CAP records
- Maintain inventory of reagents and laboratory supplies
- Follow standard operating procedures and support quality improvement initiatives
- Assist with onboarding and training as needed
Requirements:
- 45 years of relevant experience required
- Associates Degree with coursework in Anatomy, Biology, and/or Chemistry OR
- Bachelors Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Chemistry, Microbiology, or Biology OR
- High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of relevant laboratory experience
- International education must be verified through a NACES-approved credential evaluation service
Required Certifications:
- HT or HTL Certification
- BLS Certification
Preferred Certification:
- HT (ASCP) preferred
Required Skills:
- Strong near vision and depth perception
- Ability to focus on detailed laboratory work
- Color vision accuracy required
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to laboratory standards
