Phlebotomist II
Job Location: Alton IL
Job Duration: 3 Months
Shift: 7am - 4pm M-F, 4th Sat 7am - 1pm.
Job Summary
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the primary point of contact for patients, supporting both routine healthcare needs and critical, life-defining health decisions. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing in accordance with established policies and procedures.
The PSR II interacts directly with patients, creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by clearly explaining procedures and performing specimen collections in a safe, accurate, and professional manner. This position demonstrates leadership behaviors, process excellence, and a strong commitment to confidentiality and accuracy of patient information. Assignments may be in a physician’s office, Patient Service Center, or other locations as business needs dictate.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Patient Care & Specimen Collection

Perform clinical and forensic specimen collection and processing following established practices and procedures.

Draw blood specimens skillfully, safely, and accurately, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Verify patient demographic information and initials.

Obtain patient signature post-venipuncture to confirm specimens were labeled in the patient’s presence and contain correct identifying information.

Perform daily activities accurately and on time under the direction of the area supervisor.

Maintain required records and documentation.

Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Job Requirements

Schedule & Flexibility

Flexible availability required, including weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime.

One Saturday per month required.

Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.

Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.
Transportation

Reliable transportation required.

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record, if applicable.
Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (required).

Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.

Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.
Work Experience

1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.

Customer service experience in a retail or service setting highly preferred.
-
Previous keyboarding and data entry experience required.
