Pay Rate: $35 $40 per hour

The Sterile Processing Coordinator is responsible for overseeing daily operations in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). This role ensures surgical instruments and equipment are properly decontaminated, assembled, sterilized, and distributed in compliance with regulatory standards. The Coordinator supervises technicians, manages workflow, and promotes a safe, efficient, and high-quality environment that supports patient care.

• Supervise sterile processing technicians and assign daily shift coverage to maintain workflow efficiency.

• Oversee decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments and supplies.

• Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, and internal SOPs.

• Conduct and review quality assurance audits, ensuring complete and accurate documentation.

• Provide training, mentoring, and competency support for SPD staff.

• Coordinate equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting with maintenance teams.

• Collaborate with leadership on scheduling, timekeeping, and department goals.

• Partner with surgical and clinical teams to ensure timely instrument availability.

• Promote safety, infection prevention, and regulatory compliance in all SPD operations.

• Address and resolve customer service concerns in a timely and professional manner.

• Assist with inventory control, ordering, and supply chain processes.

• Support continuous improvement initiatives and monitor department KPIs.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Direct supervision of all sterile processing staff during assigned shifts.

Experience:

• Minimum 3 years of experience in sterile processing.

• At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience in healthcare or manufacturing.

Education:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• College degree preferred, or equivalent leadership experience.

Licenses/Certifications:

• CRCST required.

• CIS preferred.

• Healthcare leadership certification is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

• In-depth knowledge of sterilization standards, OSHA regulations, and infection control.

• Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.

• Familiarity with surgical instruments and medical device reprocessing.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and timekeeping systems.

• Team-oriented with proven ability to mentor and motivate staff.
