Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Duration: 4 months, possibility of extension
Hours per Week: 22
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. (Evening Shift)

Job Summary
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) is responsible for providing general support in the Specimen Processing Department. This role involves data entry, handling biological specimens, and ensuring timely, accurate processing. The ideal candidate will be organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with the ability to work in a fast-paced, production-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform specimen processing tasks such as A-station sorting, presorting, imaging, microfilming, centrifugation, and aliquoting.
Ensure accurate data entry (minimum 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes per hour).
Deliver processed specimens to the appropriate laboratory departments.
Follow established safety, quality, and compliance standards, especially when handling biohazard materials.
Communicate effectively with team members and other staff levels.
Maintain a clean, organized workspace and adhere to all safety and compliance policies.
Demonstrate flexibility in adapting to frequent changes in procedures and regulations.
Requirements
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic computer skills required.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
Flexibility to work occasional weekends, holidays, overtime, or on-call as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a laboratory or production environment.
Familiarity with medical terminology and clinical laboratory processes.
Previous hospital lab experience a plus.
Work Environment
Production-based setting with strict productivity and quality standards.
Biohazard environment; adherence to safety protocols required.
Evening shift schedule with potential for additional hours depending on staffing needs.
