Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician assists registered nurses in providing direct patient care by performing a variety of clinical and support functions to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician assists registered nurses in providing direct patient care by performing a variety of clinical and support functions to ensure patient comfort and safety.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients and verify identification bracelets for accuracy.
- Prepare patients for assessments, admissions, physical exams, and procedures.
- Draw intravenous or capillary blood samples using aseptic techniques, ensuring proper labeling and processing.
- Perform EKGs as directed by medical staff.
- Ensure all necessary equipment is clean, functional, and available.
- Assist in patient transport within the facility as needed.
- Aid patients with meal preparation and feeding as required.
- Maintain inventory and restock supplies in assigned areas.
- Prepare patient rooms for admission, ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Provide direct hygiene care such as bathing, toileting, oral hygiene, incontinent care, and bed making.
- Take and document vital signs on admission, notifying the nurse of any abnormalities.
- Perform and record glucose finger sticks and other specimen collections as directed.
- Obtain and document daily patient weights, intake, and output.
- Respond promptly to patient call lights and report any changes in patient condition to the nurse.
- Adapt care to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations, considering age, culture, language, and sensory impairments.
- Communicate effectively with patients, caregivers, and medical personnel at appropriate levels.
- Maintain regular contact with medical center staff, patients, and visitors to facilitate care coordination.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in a hospital setting is strongly preferred.
