Duration: 3 Months+ (Temp with possible permanent hire) – Temp to Perm
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:45 PM (40 hours/week)
Travel Required: No
Interview Type: TEAMS – 1 or 2 rounds
Certifications: CMA, BLS
Preferred Skills: GI, Oncology, or Family Medicine experience; Epic EMR experience; 2+ years CMA experience; Bilingual highly preferred.

The Certified Medical Assistant 2 (CMA 2), under the direction of a physician, assists in providing healthcare to patients. This role includes performing a variety of patient care activities such as documenting clinical information, administering medications, giving injections, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures. The CMA 2 may also help with scheduling, staff mentoring, and training.

Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant 2 (CMA 2), under the direction of a physician, assists in providing healthcare to patients. This role includes performing a variety of patient care activities such as documenting clinical information, administering medications, giving injections, taking vital signs, and assisting with procedures. The CMA 2 may also help with scheduling, staff mentoring, and training.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under physician supervision.
- Prepare treatment rooms and ensure proper cleaning, disinfection, and restocking of supplies and equipment.
- Escort patients from the waiting area and prepare them for exams or procedures.
- Interview patients and record relevant medical information in their charts.
- Collect and record vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height).
- Perform routine patient testing, EKGs, and collect/process blood and urine specimens.
- Administer routine medications, injections, and vaccinations (excluding controlled substances) as directed by a physician.
- Remove sutures and change sterile/non-sterile dressings as needed.
- Perform administrative duties, including scheduling, answering phones, and relaying messages.
- Facilitate or lead team huddles and meetings.
- Assist in process workflow management, staff scheduling, mentoring, and training.
- Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives.
Key Success Factors:
- CMA certification from an accredited program (AAMA or AMT).
- Knowledge of safe and accurate medical administration principles.
- Understanding of the “5 Rights” of medication administration: right patient, right medication, right dose, right route, right time.
- Ability to accurately document patient information according to organizational policies and HIPAA regulations.
- Strong observational skills for patient conditions and reporting abnormalities.
- Proficiency in injections, blood draws, and other basic clinical procedures.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and charting procedures.
- Excellent bedside manner and ability to put patients at ease.
- Ability to take direction from physicians and work collaboratively with the healthcare team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
