Surgical Technologist
Requirements:

Schedule:
- 4-day work week
- 2 days per week: 8-hour shifts (6:50 AM 3:20 PM)
- 2 days per week: 12-hour shifts (6:50 AM 7:20 PM)
- On-call requirement: 1 Saturday every 5 weeks (12-hour shift)
Surgical Technologist
Location: Clinton Township
Job Summary
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and Surgical Team, the Surgical Technologist is responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment during general surgical procedures. This role ensures the operating room is properly prepared, anticipates the needs of the surgical team, and supports patient care, safety, and comfort throughout the surgical process.
Key Responsibilities
- Scrub and assist during general surgical procedures
- Prepare operating rooms with instruments, supplies, and equipment based on procedure type
- Ensure proper functioning of instruments and equipment; report repairs as needed
- Follow departmental policies, safety protocols, infection control standards, and quality assurance procedures
- Maintain sterile technique and demonstrate cost-conscious use of supplies
- Respond appropriately to emergency situations according to established procedures
- Deliver supplies to units and ancillary departments as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe operating room environment
- Support pre-operative patient comfort, privacy, and transport
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and department information
- Participate in ongoing education, department programs, audits, and task forces
- Assist leadership with supply management and inventory levels
- Train or precept new Surgical Technologist staff when applicable
- Assist RNs with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients from the OR
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Education Requirements
Required:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
Preferred:
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technology program
Certifications
Required:
- Current BLS certification (or obtain within one month of start date)
- Surgical Technologist certification required
Skills & Experience
Required:
- Ability to lift and move patients
- Ability to push, pull, and lift case carts, instrument trays, and equipment
- Comfortable working in a patient care environment with potential exposure to communicable diseases, hazardous materials, and acute patient conditions
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
Preferred:
- One year of Surgical Technologist experience
Schedule
