Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM OR Monday - Friday, 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
Pay Rate: $73/hr on w2


Job Summary:
  • Under the general direction of the Director of PET and clinical supervision of a reading physician, the Nuclear Medicine PET Technologist performs PET imaging procedures for patients of all ages.
  • This role is critical in supporting diagnostic efforts by ensuring safe, accurate, and high-quality imaging, while maintaining regulatory compliance and patient care standards.
Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical & Imaging Duties
  • Perform PET imaging as per Division Standards and protocols.
  • Administer radiopharmaceuticals and contrast agents as per regulations and under physician direction.
  • Start peripheral IV access and manage injection procedures (manual unit doses and systems like Medrad Intego).
  • Conduct equipment quality control (QC) and troubleshooting; document QA, calibrations, wipes, and radiation safety checks.
  • Perform PET-CT image processing including fusion and standard cuts.
  • Transfer and archive studies to PACS and clinical systems (MIM, Syngo).
  • Comply with all radiation safety guidelines, including NYS DOH and hospital regulations.
2. Patient Care & Safety:
  • Verify procedure orders, protocol sheets, and patient screening forms.
  • Ensure patients meet pre-procedure preparation criteria (e.g., fasting, glucose levels, hydration).
  • Communicate clearly with patients and families, using interpreters if needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and infection control guidelines.
3. Administrative & Support Tasks:
  • Ensure radio pharmacy materials are properly handled and disposed.
  • Assist in supply management and stock replenishment.
  • Promptly report to assigned work area and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Qualifications & Licensure:
1. Required Education:
  • Completion of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program.
2. Required Certifications & Licenses:
  • Certification: NMT (NMTCB) or ARRT(N)
  • Licensure: NYS Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License with Injection Registration
  • CT Certification: ARRT – Computed Tomography (CT)
  • Other: Active BLS certification; maintenance of all required licenses and continuing education.
3. Required Skills & Experience:
  • Proficient in PET-CT operation, processing, and quality control procedures.
  • Capable of initiating IV access and handling radiopharmaceuticals.
  • Experience with PACS, RIS, and medical charting systems.
  • Strong judgment, professionalism, and ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safety regulations and SNMMI quality standards.
  • Flexible schedule availability and high reliability.
