Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Miami, FL
Duration: 5+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Rotational Saturday: 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I) serves as the face of the organization, ensuring a positive experience for patients during specimen collection. This role involves drawing high-quality blood samples, preparing specimens for laboratory testing, and maintaining strict adherence to safety and compliance standards. The Phlebotomist I fosters trust and confidence through professional communication and skillful, accurate procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and specimen collection (including pediatric and geriatric patients) following established protocols.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing with accuracy and efficiency.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment.
- Accurately document patient information and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Provide clear explanations and excellent customer service to patients.
- Support operational goals through teamwork and adherence to quality standards.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; medical assistant or paramedic training preferred.
- Certification: Phlebotomy certification preferred (mandatory in CA, NV, WA).
- Experience: Minimum 6 months phlebotomy experience; 1+ year preferred. Customer service experience in retail/service environment preferred.
- Skills: Excellent phlebotomy skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently, and proficiency in data entry.
Additional Requirements:
- Reliable transportation (public transport or rideshare not considered reliable).
- Must reside within a 20–25 minute commute to the worksite.
- Punctuality and consistent attendance are mandatory; excessive tardiness or absenteeism will result in termination.
