Solution Architect
Job Title: Solution Architect
Location: Houston, TX 77079 (Hybrid)
Duration: 10 Months+ (Possible Extension)
Position Summary:
As a Solution Architect, you will provide end-to-end architecture leadership for IT projects in Client’s Trading & Supply portfolio, focusing on a global Energy Trade and Risk Management (ETRM) solution on Azure. You will ensure scalable, secure, and innovative solutions while aligning with organizational standards and reference architecture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical architecture across projects, ensuring cohesive IT solutions integrating business process, data, applications, and security.
- Document and approve solution architectures; guide designers and business analysts during design phases.
- Contribute to Reference Model development and elevate project deliverables to conceptual and logical architectures.
- Monitor emerging technologies and implement future-ready solutions.
- Engage stakeholders, champion architectural excellence, and drive strategic improvements.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years in software and architecture delivery, ideally in commodities trading or energy sector.
- Strong understanding of end-to-end Trading Business from deal inception to settlement.
- TOGAF (or equivalent) experience and Enterprise Architecture tooling.
- Hands-on Azure/cloud-native application architecture, microservices, containers, and federated data platforms.
- Data architecture experience including logical models, pipelines, warehousing, and medallion architecture.
- Proficiency in SQL/NoSQL databases; knowledge of diverse data types (big data, streaming, IoT).
- CI/CD & DevOps experience (Git, VSTS/Azure DevOps, Terraform, Ansible).
- Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills; ability to lead technical discussions and drive consensus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Node.js, .NET/.NET Core, Python, React, OpenLink Endur, SAP HANA, Salesforce.
- Azure Services: Azure Functions, Web Apps, AD, Data Factory, Data Lake, Storage, Kubernetes Service, CosmosDB, Azure SQL.
- Integration experience with Kafka, API Management, Logic Apps.
- Agile experience in start-up and enterprise environments; lead engineering communities and maintain standards.
Soft Skills & Leadership:
- Ability to influence without authority, foster collaboration, and mentor technical teams.
- Ability to balance technical design with risk, complexity, cost, and business value.
- Strong initiative, adaptability, and innovative problem-solving capabilities.
