Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I (PSR I)
Duration: 5 months, possibility of extension
Hours/Week: 40
Shift: Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Rotational Saturdays as required
Job Description:
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) is the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming and professional experience while collecting blood samples and ensuring accurate specimen preparation for lab testing. The PSR I is responsible for creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures to patients, drawing blood in a safe and skillful manner, and maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality. The PSR I will be expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence and maintaining a professional environment.
Key responsibilities include:

Performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties with confidence, following established procedures.

Drawing quality blood samples, including pediatric and geriatric patients, ensuring safety and accuracy.

Maintaining required documentation and records, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of specimens.

Working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

Demonstrating strong organizational commitment and promoting a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

Ensuring sensitivity to patient information, confidentiality, and accuracy.
Job Requirements:

Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric populations.

Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.

Strong customer service skills, particularly in a retail or service environment.

Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies and procedures.
Required Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred: Medical assistant or paramedic training.
-
Phlebotomy certification (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).
Work Experience:
-
Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.

Preferred: One or more years of phlebotomy experience.
-
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is a plus.
Additional Job Details:

State of Credentials/Licenses Required: CPT1 certification.
