Job Title: Phlebotomist I (PSR I)
Duration: 5 months, possibility of extension
Hours/Week: 40
Shift: Monday to Friday: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM - Rotational Saturdays as required

Job Description:

The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) is the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming and professional experience while collecting blood samples and ensuring accurate specimen preparation for lab testing. The PSR I is responsible for creating an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures to patients, drawing blood in a safe and skillful manner, and maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality. The PSR I will be expected to demonstrate leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence and maintaining a professional environment.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Performing forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties with confidence, following established procedures.

  • Drawing quality blood samples, including pediatric and geriatric patients, ensuring safety and accuracy.

  • Maintaining required documentation and records, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of specimens.

  • Working independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a safe and professional work environment.

  • Demonstrating strong organizational commitment and promoting a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

  • Ensuring sensitivity to patient information, confidentiality, and accuracy.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Capability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including experience with pediatric and geriatric populations.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, and overtime as needed.

  • Strong customer service skills, particularly in a retail or service environment.

  • Proficiency in keyboarding and data entry.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies and procedures.

Required Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Preferred: Medical assistant or paramedic training.

  • Phlebotomy certification (required in California, Nevada, and Washington).

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.

  • Preferred: One or more years of phlebotomy experience.

  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment is a plus.

Additional Job Details:

  • State of Credentials/Licenses Required: CPT1 certification.
