Cost Engineer

Job Title: Cost Engineer
Location: Iowa City, IA
Duration: 6 months

Job Description

• Meet with clients to discuss products and project scope.
• Travel to job sites to collect information on materials, labor, and other project factors.
• Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and architects throughout the project lifecycle.
• Consult with industry experts to review and validate cost estimates.
• Identify and quantify all cost factors associated with the project.
• Utilize computer software to prepare accurate cost estimates.
• Develop, prepare, and present cost reports to clients.
• Monitor and review expenditure statements during all phases of the project.

Tasks

• Meet with project managers monthly to compile updates on capital spending, depreciation, Appropriated Expense (AE), FADO, capital overhead, project closeout schedules, and upcoming planned fundings.
• Review funding packages with project managers to ensure compliance with plant standards and assist in scheduling reviews with upper leadership as needed.
• Record all pertinent project information on plant tracking documents once projects are funded.
• Support the preparation of all Capital FFs by working with project managers to update project capital forecasts in E-Trending and E-Forecasting systems.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations of AE and FADO actuals versus forecast.
• Prepare quarterly Capital Overhead documentation for submission or cross-functional review.

Must Have

• Advanced Capital Systems Management
• Strong ability to analyze capital investments
• Expertise in Capital Systems Management

Nice to Have

• Experience with capital equipment purchases
• Knowledge of capital accounting
• Background as a Capital and Construction Project Manager
