Job Title: Phlebotomist II | Patient Services Representative II (PSR II)
Location: Covington, LA
Duration: 3 months+ Contract (Possible Extension)

Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM
 
Overview:


  • Serves as the primary representative of the organization to patients seeking routine or diagnostic laboratory services.
  • Responsible for accurately collecting high-quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory analysis while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Builds trust with patients, demonstrates strong communication skills, and consistently performs procedures with precision and professionalism.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform daily operational activities under the guidance of the Area Supervisor, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with established procedures.
  • Create and maintain a safe, professional, and patient-focused environment.
  • Collect forensic and clinical specimens confidently and accurately by following standardized phlebotomy protocols.
  • Verify patient identification and demographic information; ensure specimens are labeled in the patient’s presence and validate tube labeling and signatures.
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing according to company standards.
  • Maintain required documentation, logs, records, and reports.
  • Promote organizational values, demonstrating strong customer service, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Provide clear communication to patients regarding procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding.
  • Adapt to staffing needs, including potential travel, flexible hours, and last-minute coverage for multiple locations.
  • Support operational excellence by demonstrating leadership behavior, sound judgment, and adherence to quality control and safety protocols.
 
Job Requirements:
  • Ability to produce high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced setting.
  • Strong independent work ethic with minimal supervision required.
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as needed.
  • Commitment to company policies, including dress code, Health & Safety standards, and Everyday Excellence guidelines.
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (as applicable).
  • Strong multitasking abilities in high-volume environments.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication transparency, and willingness to adapt to change.
  • Ability to travel for training; training locations may vary.
 
Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Medical Assistant or Paramedic training preferred.
  • Phlebotomy certification preferred (mandatory in CA, NV, WA).
 
Experience:
  • Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.
  • Retail or service-based customer service experience desirable.
  • Keyboarding/data entry experience required.
