Phlebotomist I
Job Title: Phlebotomist I
Location: Riverview, FL
Duration: 4+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift Timings: Monday – Friday, 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Rotating Saturdays)
Position Summary
The Phlebotomist I / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) serves as the face of the organization to patients, playing a critical role in the patient experience. This position is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing while ensuring patient comfort, safety, and confidentiality. The PSR I establishes trust and confidence with patients by explaining procedures clearly and performing specimen collection in a safe, accurate, and professional manner.
Under the direction of the area supervisor, the Phlebotomist I performs daily activities with a focus on accuracy, timeliness, and process excellence, while projecting a positive and professional image to patients, clients, and the public.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily phlebotomy and specimen processing activities accurately and on time
- Draw quality blood samples following established clinical and forensic procedures
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing
- Maintain a safe, clean, and professional work environment
- Accurately complete required records, documentation, and data entry
- Demonstrate attention to detail, patient confidentiality, and data accuracy
- Interact directly with patients, creating a calm and trusting atmosphere
- Represent the organization positively to patients, clients, employees, and the public
- Exhibit leadership behaviors and support process excellence initiatives
Job Requirements
- Ability to deliver high-quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
- Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts as required
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (Preferred; Required in CA, NV, and WA)
Work Experience
- Minimum 6 months of phlebotomy experience (Required)
- One (1) year or more of phlebotomy experience (Preferred)
- Previous customer service experience in a retail or service environment (Preferred)
- Strong keyboarding and data entry skills (Required)
