Job Title: Registered Medical Assistant
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Pay Rate: $21/hour
Shift Details:
The Registered Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff in a dynamic outpatient environment. This role involves both clinical and clerical responsibilities, including direct patient care, administrative support, and maintaining compliance with health and safety protocols. Certified Medical Assistant is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
Contract Duration: 13 weeks
Pay Rate: $21/hour
Shift Details:
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Late Night: Must be available one night per week until 8:00 PM
- Hours Per Week: 40
- On-Call Required: No
- Float Requirement: May float to Family Medicine and ENT departments
The Registered Medical Assistant will support physicians and clinical staff in a dynamic outpatient environment. This role involves both clinical and clerical responsibilities, including direct patient care, administrative support, and maintaining compliance with health and safety protocols. Certified Medical Assistant is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Perform venipuncture and EKGs as needed
- Assist patients during examinations and procedures
- Take and record vital signs, relay physician instructions to patients and families
- Assist with specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and exam prep
- Maintain and sterilize exam rooms and instruments
- Support minor procedures and maintain crash cart, testing logs, and medication refrigeration logs
- Dispose of expired medications and supplies per policy
- Ensure infection control and PPE compliance
- Schedule appointments, procedures, and managing office schedules
- Register patients and update demographic/insurance details
- Prepare prescription refill requests and enter orders in EMR (Epic)
- Manage and maintain patient charts, forms, and reports
- Verify insurance and complete pre-certifications as needed
- Handle referrals, lab reports, x-ray reports, and hospital notes
- Maintain inventory and restock medical supplies
- Education: High School Diploma/GED with completion of an approved Medical Assistant program

Certification:
- Medical Assistant Certificate (Required)
- Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
- BLS Certification from AHA (Required)
- Basic computer skills, MS Office Suite (Basic level)
- Knowledge of Epic EMR system (Preferred)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Effective telephone etiquette
- Familiarity with medical terminology and HIPAA compliance
- Experience with ENT and prior authorizations preferred
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and adapt to changing situations
- General office setting
- Light physical activity level
- Occasional assistance with patient mobility and lifting
