Job Title: Specimen Technician
Location: Shelton, CT
Duration: 9 months
Shift: Monday to Friday - 9 AM - 5:30 PM

Pay Rate: $17.20 - $22/hr. on w2

Overview:
The SPT I provides essential support in the Specimen Processing Department, performing data entry and specimen handling tasks with accuracy and efficiency. This role requires strong organization, adaptability, and attention to compliance in a fast-paced, production-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform data entry (up to 6,000 keystrokes/hour) related to specimen processing.

  • Handle specimen tasks such as presort, pickup/delivery, centrifugation, aliquoting, and imaging.

  • Maintain compliance with changing test order regulations and quality standards.

  • Work primarily night shifts; availability for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime required.

  • Ensure safety in a biohazard environment and maintain a clean workspace.

  • Communicate effectively with team members and foster a positive work environment.

  • Adapt to daily changes and meet departmental productivity goals.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Basic computer skills; knowledge of lab testing or specimen processing preferred.

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods.

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Flexibility to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.

Preferred:

  • Previous lab or medical experience, including medical terminology.

  • Experience in a production or hospital lab environment.
