Patient Services Representative II (PSR II)


The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) represents the face of our company to patients who visit as part of their health routine or for important, life-defining health decisions. The PSR II is responsible for drawing quality blood samples and preparing specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures and best practices.

This role requires direct patient contact and the ability to create an atmosphere of trust and confidence by explaining procedures clearly and performing venipuncture in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. The PSR II demonstrates leadership behaviors, focuses on process excellence, and maintains strict confidentiality and accuracy of patient information.

Successful applicants may be assigned to a doctor’s office, a Patient Service Center (PSC), or other locations based on business needs.




Key Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Area Supervisor, the PSR II will:

  • Perform daily activities accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment.

  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing according to established procedures.

  • Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient initials/signature post-venipuncture to confirm that specimens were labeled in their presence and that all information is correct.

  • Maintain required records and documentation accurately.

  • Promote a positive image of the organization to patients, clients, employees, and the public.

  • Demonstrate organizational commitment and professionalism at all times.




Job Requirements

  • Ability to deliver quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision.

  • Strong phlebotomy skills, including pediatric and geriatric collections.

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, on-call shifts, overtime, and variable schedules as needed.

  • Commitment to all company policies and procedures, including dress code, employee health and safety, and Everyday Excellence Guiding Principles.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on established procedures.

  • Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and a clean driving record (if applicable).

  • Willingness to travel and work flexible hours across multiple locations with minimal notice.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment.

  • Demonstrated superior customer service skills.

  • Strong communication skills with peers, supervisors, and patients.

  • Ability to adapt to change and understand business operations.

Training locations may vary based on trainer availability.




Required Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).

  • Medical training (Medical Assistant or Paramedic) preferred.

  • Phlebotomy certification preferred; required in California, Nevada, and Washington.




Work Experience

  • 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience required, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a Patient Service Center environment preferred.

  • Customer service experience in a retail or service setting strongly preferred.

  • Keyboard and data entry experience required.




Additional Job Details

  • Resume must include home city and commute time to the job site (must be within 20–25 minutes).

  • Pay rate is based on years of direct phlebotomy experience as listed on the resume. Overlapping roles will not be counted twice.

  • If the candidate is currently a student, their school schedule must not conflict with the assigned shift schedule.

  • Candidates must have reliable personal transportation to and from the worksite. Public transportation, rideshare, or being dropped off is not considered reliable transportation.

  • Candidates must be punctual, work all scheduled shifts, and remain for the entire shift. Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
