Specimen Technician - 3rd Shift
Job Title: Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I)
Location: Tampa, FL
Shift: Monday – Friday | 10:00 PM – 6:30 AM (EST)
Duration: 4 Months
Job Summary:
The Specimen Processing Technician I (SPT I) provides general support within the Specimen Processing Department in a fast-paced production environment. Responsibilities include data entry, specimen sorting, centrifugation, aliquoting, imaging, and transporting specimens to the laboratory. The role requires accuracy, organization, and the ability to follow compliance regulations related to laboratory testing.
Key Responsibilities:

Perform specimen processing tasks such as presorting, centrifugation, aliquoting, and imaging.

Enter and manage data accurately (minimum 6,000 alphanumeric keystrokes/hour).

Transport processed specimens to the laboratory.

Maintain a clean and organized workspace while following safety and compliance procedures.

Work efficiently in a high-volume, repetitive production environment.

Communicate effectively with team members and adapt to daily operational changes.
Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Basic computer and data entry skills.

Strong written and spoken English communication skills (Spanish bilingual preferred).

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work in a biohazard environment using required PPE.

Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license required.

Must be punctual and able to complete scheduled shifts.
Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of medical terminology.
-
Previous laboratory, hospital, or specimen processing experience.

Experience working in a production or high-volume environment.
Additional Notes:
-
Heavy production environment with repetitive tasks.
-
PPE required when handling testing samples (lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves).

Weekend, holiday, or overtime work may be required based on staffing needs.
