Job Summary:
- The Release Manager will play a key role in overseeing cross-functional release cycles across multiple Agile teams.
- This role ensures timely, secure, and coordinated delivery of software and infrastructure releases by aligning with SAFe Agile frameworks and leveraging tools such as GitLab, Jira, and ServiceNow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, scheduling, coordination, and execution of software releases across various environments, adhering to enterprise change management policies and procedures.
- Act as a subject matter expert on release and configuration management practices, offering guidance to development and infrastructure teams.
- Collaborate closely with DevSecOps Engineers, Cloud Enablement Teams, DBAs, and environment owners to execute build and deploy activities.
- Chair and facilitate production deployment events, including triage and escalation of issues.
- Maintain release documentation, procedures, and tracking artifacts including dependencies, build versions, and release notes.
- Drive continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices, optimizing current pipelines and recommending automation improvements.
- Ensure system security compliance with internal policies and Federal Reserve standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.
- Coordinate release testing (shakeouts, failover, contingency plans) with application teams and supporting stakeholders.
- Maintain active involvement in CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings and other governance forums.
- Work with National IT and infrastructure teams to schedule environment updates from DEV through to Production.
- Collaborate with ARC and development teams to define, track, and execute on technology roadmaps and upgrades.
- Communicate release plans, scope, and changes to stakeholders and leadership.
- Manage risks and issues impacting release timelines, scope, or quality.
- Provide technical leadership and strategic input on infrastructure improvements and release standards.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in Release Management or a similar technical leadership role.
- Strong understanding of the Release Management lifecycle, including branching strategies (GitFlow preferred).
- Hands-on experience with tools such as GitLab, Jira, ServiceNow, and Terraform.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies, including SAFe.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to various stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams, resolve conflicts, and deliver in high-pressure environments.
- Availability to support evening and weekend activities (~25%) for production deployments and testing.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications related to Release Management, DevOps, ITIL, Agile, or Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
- Familiarity with AWS GovCloud and Infrastructure as Code principles.
- Experience with Angular, microservices architecture, and database platforms including Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, and Aurora.
- Knowledge of enterprise-level security controls and compliance standards.
- Experience with performance metrics reporting using GitLab, ServiceNow, or similar tools.
