Description/Comment:

• About the Role We’re looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our Data Platform team within a leading global media organization. In this role, you will play a mission-critical part in designing, scaling, and sustaining the platform that powers data products and insights across our digital and real-world experiences. You’ll apply your software engineering expertise to build automation, reduce operational overhead, and elevate the availability and observability of high-throughput data systems.
• This position sits at the intersection of data engineering, DevOps, and platform reliability, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient, real-time data infrastructure that drives decisions, personalization, and innovation across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement reliable, observable, and scalable infrastructure for the company’s central data platform.
• Build and maintain automation, self-healing tools, and monitoring frameworks to support real-time data processing systems.
• Establish and enforce robust SLAs, SLOs, and SLIs in partnership with service and platform owners.
• Design telemetry pipelines and dashboards using industry-standard observability stacks (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, Honeycomb, etc.).
• Own and optimize DORA metrics: ensuring fast, safe, and sustainable delivery of platform changes.
• Lead incident response and root cause analysis efforts; mentor teams in blameless postmortems and continuous improvement.
• Develop CI/CD tooling and infrastructure-as-code for reliable, versioned deployment of platform services (e.g., Terraform, AWS CDK).
• Write high-quality, testable code and provide technical leadership through code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and platform architects to deliver resilient systems that handle petabyte-scale data pipelines. 

Basic Qualifications:

• 6+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on reliability, infrastructure, or platform engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python and at least one statically typed language (e.g., Java, TypeScript, Go).
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS services (Lambda, ECS/EKS, S3, IAM, API Gateway, SNS/SQS, Kinesis).
• Proven track record of operating and scaling distributed systems in production.
• Expert knowledge of observability and telemetry design: tracing, metrics, and logging across services.
• Proficiency in CI/CD automation, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps practices.
• Solid grasp of SQL/NoSQL data stores and architectural trade-offs in large-scale systems.
• Familiarity with agile development, code review workflows, and team-based SDLC processes.                      

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting data pipelines, streaming platforms, or real-time analytics infrastructure.
• Experience with DataDog and monitoring serverless applications.
• Expertise in performance profiling, root cause analysis, and distributed tracing in complex environments.
• Demonstrated success improving reliability metrics (MTTR, deployment frequency, etc.).
• Understanding of compliance, security, and governance best practices in cloud data environments.
• Prior experience in high-traffic or high-availability media, entertainment, or consumer platforms.
