Job Description: ENTRY Phlebotomist I
Location: Naples, FL
Duration: 6+ Months (Possibility of Extension)
Shift: Monday–Friday, 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. EST
Position Summary
The ENTRY Phlebotomist I (Patient Services Representative I – PSR I) is a front-facing role responsible for creating a welcoming, supportive, and professional environment for patients. As the first point of contact, this individual will greet patients, assist with questions, manage the waiting area, and support phlebotomy staff during peak times or breaks.
This is an entry-level role into Phlebotomy, designed for candidates eager to learn phlebotomy skills, grow within the organization, and eventually support both frontofhouse responsibilities and specimen collection duties. Strong customer service skills are essential, as the ENTRY PSR I plays a critical role in ensuring a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Patient Interaction & Front-of-House Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, offering compassionate assistance.
- Support patient check-ins via self-service kiosk or handheld tablet.
- Maintain the cleanliness, order, and professionalism of the waiting area.
- Provide clear explanations to patients regarding their visit and what to expect.
Training & Development
- Actively participate in phlebotomy training to develop specimen collection skills.
- Assist with coverage during staff breaks as training progresses.
- Once phlebotomy competence is achieved, perform both forensic and clinical specimen collection following established procedures.
Operational Excellence
- Complete daily tasks accurately, promptly, and under supervisor guidance.
- Maintain required records, logs, and documentation according to standards.
- Promote a positive and professional image to patients, coworkers, and the public.
- Uphold confidentiality, compliance, and high customercare standards.
Professional Conduct
- Demonstrate willingness to learn, adapt, and grow within the role.
- Handle all patient interactions with care, compassion, and professionalism.
Job Requirements
Skills & Competencies
- Exceptional customer service skills (this is critical for the role).
- Ability to handle patient interactions with warmth, care, and professionalism.
- Willingness and eagerness to learn phlebotomy skills—this is mandatory.
- Ability to support check-in processes via kiosk/tablet.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Keyboarding and data entry proficiency required.
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent — REQUIRED
Experience
-
1–2 years of clientfacing customer service — REQUIRED
(Examples: retail, home health aide, hospitality, etc.) - No prior phlebotomy experience required — this is a training role.
Additional Requirements
- Must have reliable personal transportation (bus/Uber/rideshare not accepted).
- Must be punctual, dependable, and available for all scheduled hours.
- Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination.
- Candidates must live within a 20–25 minute commute for consistent attendance.
- Resume must clearly list home city and commute time.
- This role includes phlebotomy training—candidates unwilling to learn or perform phlebotomy should not apply.
