Job Title: Director - Infection Prevention and Control
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11212
Duration: 2+ Months (Possible Extension)
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (40 hours/week)
Pay Range: $80 – $85/hr. on W2
Work Setting: Long Term Care (Administration)
Short-Term Assignment – Master’s required; LTC Infection Control Experience; COVID daily herd monitoring
Job Summary:
The Director of Infection Prevention and Control oversees infection control programs in a long-term care (LTC) setting, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting clinical excellence in infection prevention. This role involves surveillance, policy development, education, and collaboration with internal teams and external agencies to safeguard residents, staff, and the community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal infection control regulations.
- Conduct daily rounds to assess infection control compliance across all LTC departments.
- Collect, analyze, and report data on nosocomial and community-acquired infections; identify trends and potential outbreaks.
- Develop, implement, review, and revise infection control policies and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison with NY State and City health departments, CDC, and other regulatory agencies.
- Co-chair the Antibiotic Stewardship Program with the Medical Director.
- Lead orientation and continuing education programs on infection prevention for staff, residents, and families.
- Participate in Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) initiatives; provide key input to QAPI Board.
- Collaborate with hospitals, departments, and external agencies on infection control research and improvement projects.
- Identify areas of infection risk and implement corrective measures, including isolation precautions.
- Represent infection control on committees, ensuring active participation and advocacy.
Required Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field.
- Master’s degree required.
- Trained in Infection Control and Prevention and/or Epidemiology.
- Certification in Infection Control and Prevention preferred.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge of epidemiology and infectious diseases.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Experience in program development, change management, consensus-building, and decision-making.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple government agencies, community leaders, and hospital staff.
- Proven competence in measuring key infection indicators, conducting surveillance, and implementing preventive measures.
- Progressive leadership experience in LTC infection prevention.
- Membership in nursing and infection control organizations.
- Commitment to continuing professional growth and development.
