Location: Brooklyn, NY 11212
Duration: 02/24/2026 – 04/04/2026
Shift: 8 AM - 4:30 PM Monday-Friday, 8x5=40 hours week
Note: Short Term Assignment Masters Required LTC Infection Control Experience Covid Daily Herds
Work Setting: Long Term Care (Administration)
Pay Range: $80-$85/hr.





Required Skills & Experience

  1. Must demonstrate the ability to appropriately measure key indicators such as: Clinical outcomes, nosocomial and community infections, infection reporting, etc.

  2. Evidence of clinical knowledge in epidemiology and infectious diseases.

  3. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to motivate others.

  4. Demonstrated experience in program development including accountability, change management, consensus building, decision making, time management.

  5. Ability to work well with multiple government agencies, community leaders, management team and hospital staff.

  6. Demonstrates competence and progressive leadership experience.

  7. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  8. Membership in nursing and infection control organizations.

  9. Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional growth and development.




Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in health related field

  • Master’s degree required

  • Trained in Infection Control and Prevention and/or Epidemiology

  • Certification in Infection Control and Prevention preferred




Job Summary / Duties

  1. Monitors and ensures compliance with regulatory agency recommendations and requirements.

  2. Participates with the Vice President and Administrator for Long Term Care and other members of Long Term Care Division (LTC) to accomplish goals of the LTC in conjunction with the goals of the Medical Center.

  3. Regularly meets and interacts with all LTC Departments Directors, to encourage communication and joint planning of Infection Control Programs.

  4. Coordinates activities on resident care units in conjunction with Medical Director, Director of Nursing Services, Nurse Managers and staff of all departments as identified in the facility assessment.

  5. Conducts daily rounds, monitors compliance with institutional infection control and employee health policies.

  6. Works in conjunction with OHS when needed to determine employee furloughs for communicable disease.

  7. Develops, implements, reviews and revises policies and procedures as they relate to infection control throughout LTC.

  8. Provides consultation in the area of clinical infection control expertise to all departments.

  9. Provides orientation classes and continuing education classes regarding current infection control practices to all departments, residents, and families if necessary, information and precautions that relate to daily living after resident discharge.

  10. Represents Infection Control on committees through active participation and representation at meetings.

  11. Co-chairs the Antibiotic Stewardship Program with the Medical Director.

  12. Participates in the planning of continuing education programs relevant to clinical practice as it relates to Infection Control.

  13. Maintains open communication with all levels of management and staff.

  14. Reviews and reports all implementation of precautions to the Nurse Managers, Nursing Administration, and VP as necessary.

  15. Collects records and analyzes all data pertaining to nosocomial and community acquired infections. Identifies possible causes of infections and presents findings to the infection control committee based on surveillance reports and observation.

  16. Identifies areas of actual and/or potential infection and executes infection control measures through ongoing surveillance activities, review of charts, laboratory slips and infection control unit reports to gather data in order to determine the incidence and prevalence of nosocomial and community-acquired infections.

  17. Determines overall and specific infection rates for LTC.

  18. Investigates clusters of infections and identifies unusual epidemics, infections due to unusual pathogens and any occurrence of nosocomial infection that exceeds usual baseline levels.

  19. Formulates attack rate for presentation to the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, determining course of action, if necessary. Corrects alteration in accepted practice promptly and effectively recommends initiation of or changes to isolation precautions for the protection of residents, LTC staff and the community.

  20. Acts as a liaison with the New York State and City health departments, Center for Disease Control and other regulatory agencies as it relates to infection control.

  21. Collaborates with other hospitals, departments and outside agencies in research studies as they relate to infection control.

  22. Establishes and maintains ongoing Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement (QAPI) projects. Is a key member of the QAPI Board.

  23. Perform other related duties as assigned.
