Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for providing clinical care and clerical support under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner. This role involves assisting with patient care, performing clinical tasks, and maintaining accurate patient records in a fast-paced medical office setting.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare exam and treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments.
- Assist patients during physician visits and examinations.
- Take and record patients' vital signs in medical charts.
- Perform diagnostic tests including EKG, PFT, Audiometry, and Titmus Test.
- Conduct lab tests such as UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy as needed.
- Maintain and organize patient records and reports.
- Assist with billing and collections procedures.
- Use computer software to manage office systems and patient information.
- Ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
- Adapt care to meet the specific needs of diverse patient populations.
- Communicate effectively with patients and caregivers at their appropriate level.
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with organizational standards and competencies.
- Lift up to 5 lbs, push/pull up to 10 lbs, and stand for extended periods as required.
Required Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) from one of the following:
- CMA-NHA, CMA-NCCT, CMA-AAMA, RMA-AMT, RMA-NAHP, AMCA, NCMA.
- Current AHA BLS Certification.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of computerized systems and data entry procedures.
