Mandatory Screening Questions:
Title: Manufacturing Technician 4
Hours are 6pm-6:30am on the same rotating 2 week schedule as our MFG Techs. (Week 1 – M,T,F,S / Week 2 – Su, W, Th).
Chemical manufacturing experience and a stable work history.
Military experience highly preferred
Seeking Bachelors Degree - Chemistry
Run lines/ automation - will be operating machines vs. hand filling Forklift experience
In this role the contractor will be participating in chemical reactors, adding chemicals to reactors. This is NOT a mixing chemicals position.
Specific Job Description
Key Accountabilities
Supports operational functions, provides technical guidance, assists with the implementation of improvements, and works on departmental projects in order to ensure department and corporate objectives are satisfied.
Candidate’s Profile
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering or other scientific discipline
• 1-2 years of experience in a production environment preferred
OR
• Associate degree with 5 + years large scale chemical manufacturing experience
Work Experience
• 2-3 years of working in a similar environment preferred.
Job specific Competencies & Skills
Knowledge and Skills:
• 1+ year production experience.
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Logical approach to problem solving.
• Experience with customer interaction.
• Knowledge of Process Improvement methodology (e.g., PDSA, Lean Manufacturing, and/or Six Sigma).
• Ability to operate powered industrial equipment, Reactor systems, Industrial centrifuges and dryers,
Ion exchange columns, and DCS systems. SAP, Word, Excel, Access, experience a plus.
• Knowledge of product flow throughout the manufacturing process.
• Ability to effectively communicate in a professional manner with all levels of staff both orally and
written.
• Ability to work in a group setting.
• Ability to demonstrate attention to detail.
• Ability to work quickly and adjust to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated problem-solving and team building skills with the ability to work with a diverse group
of people.
Essential Job Functions:
Ability to cover floor operations when supervisor is out or away from the office. Communicate the
status of operations to shift supervision
• Engages in problem solving and performance management within the business area the team leader
is responsible for
• Assists Supervisor to maintain workflow in department
• Provides training as needed for new personnel or as needed
• Maintains high-quality work environment by sharing knowledge and experiences so team members
are motivated to perform at their highest level
• Keeps supervisor informed of potential and/or existing concerns
• Leads by example in performing core manufacturing job elements by meeting or exceeding
performance expectations, following health and safety guidelines, job accuracy, and following
company and regulatory requirements.
• Participates in and supports the development and implementation of process improvement projects
including test cycles to challenge current practices, improve system efficiency, enhance customer
service, and maintain compliance
• Troubleshoot problems within the department – including root cause analysis and development of
solutions to avoid future occurrences
• Demonstrates working knowledge of department operating systems.
• Maintains orders, work areas and stock locations in a safe, clean, and organized manner.
• Reports unsafe or potentially unsafe hazards to any member of management
• Miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned
• Exemplary attendance and adherence to schedule
Additional Local Needs:
• Production Shift work could include: 12 hour shifts, night schedules with competitive shift
differential, and/or rotating shifts working during various days of the week
• Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 55 pounds while wearing personal protective equipment,
including respirators, for an extended time. Ability to move 300+ pound drums of material, assists
available as needed
• Customer interaction potential elevates the responsibilities of this position
Environmental Conditions:
General Office Environment: Noise level in office environment is generally quiet.
Manufacturing Environment: Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. Is regularly required to wear appropriate protective gear, (hard hats, glasses/goggles, chemical resistant suits, gloves, safety shoes, respirator) and other personal protection equipment “PPE” to protect themselves from toxic or corrosive chemicals in the forms of liquids, solids, vapors or airborne particles. The work area may occasionally be wet, humid, abnormally hot or cold.
Physical Requirements:
If performing office duties: Employee is required to sit, stand, hear, and use hands to operate all office equipment. Employee must view computer monitors for long periods of time. Vision requirements are close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee occasionally will be required to lift, generally no more than 55 pounds.
If performing warehouse/distribution duties: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, reach
above the shoulder, stoop, kneel, twist, or crouch for long periods of time. The employee must be able to talk, hear, taste and smell. The employee must regularly lift 55 pounds and/or move 300+ pounds without additional employee assistance. Employee may be required to move more than 300+ pounds with assistance. Specific vision requirements of this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Regularly uses manufacturing equipment, powered industrial equipment, phones, computers, computer monitors and all office/laboratory equipment.
