Job Title: Sterile Processing Coordinator
Location: Long Beach, CA 90805
Duration: 3 Months+ (possibility of extension)
Shift: 3rd Shift | 11:00 PM – 7:30 AM
Hours: 40 per week, 5 days/week
Pay Rate: $34/hr. on W2
Position Overview:
The Sterile Processing Coordinator leads the daily operations of the Sterile Processing Department (SPD) to ensure efficient workflow, compliance with regulatory standards, and the safe preparation of surgical instruments and equipment. This role supervises a team of SPD technicians, supports professional development, and ensures timely availability of sterilized instruments to meet clinical needs.

This role supervises a team of SPD technicians, supports professional development, and ensures timely availability of sterilized instruments to meet clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and schedule SPD technicians to maintain efficient workflow.
- Oversee decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and distribution of surgical instruments.
- Ensure compliance with ANSI/AAMI standards, IFUs, SOPs, OSHA, and infection control practices.
- Conduct quality assurance audits and maintain accurate documentation.
- Train, mentor, and support staff professional development and competency maintenance.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure timely instrument availability.
- Manage equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
- Support inventory management and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Address customer service feedback and operational concerns promptly.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CRCST certification in sterile processing.
- Minimum 3 years of SPD experience, including 2+ years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of sterilization standards, infection control, and OSHA regulations.
- Ability to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and timekeeping systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- College degree or equivalent leadership experience.
- CIS certification in sterile processing.
- Healthcare leadership certification (HSPA-CHL).
Skills & Competencies:
- Team-oriented, proactive, and able to motivate staff.
- Strong problem-solving and process improvement mindset.
- Familiarity with medical device reprocessing and general surgical instruments.
Schedule:
- 40 hours/week, 5 days/week
