Phlebotomist II - Float
Job Title: Phlebotomist II – Floater
Location: Plantation, FL
Duration: 3 months +, temp to hire position
Hours per Week: 40
Days: Monday – Saturday
Time Zone: Eastern
Shift Flexibility: Must be available between 5:00 AM – 5:00 PM for site coverage
Position Overview:
The Phlebotomist II – Float (Patient Services Representative II) plays a key role in providing high-quality, compassionate care during blood collection and laboratory specimen processing. This position requires traveling between multiple sites across the Plantation, FL area, offering same-day coverage as needed. Candidates must be dependable, adaptable, and skilled in phlebotomy across diverse patient populations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections, including pediatric and geriatric patients
- Prepare and process specimens for lab testing according to standardized procedures
- Deliver excellent patient care by explaining procedures and ensuring patient comfort
- Accurately verify patient information and label specimens in the patient’s presence
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment at all assigned locations
- Travel between multiple sites, often with minimal notice, and ensure punctual arrival
- Uphold organizational policies for safety, confidentiality, quality assurance, and customer service
- Keep accurate documentation and records of services performed
- Represent the organization positively with patients, staff, and clients
Requirements:
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical assistant or paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy certification (Preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric patients (Required)
- At least 2 years in a Patient Service Center or similar setting (Preferred)
- Customer service experience in a healthcare or retail setting (Preferred)
- Basic computer and data entry skills
Licensing:
- Florida state credentials or licensure preferred, but not required
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong phlebotomy and patient interaction skills
- Independent and able to manage time effectively
- Flexible, adaptable, and dependable in changing environments
- Ability to multitask in a high-volume setting
- Professional and patient-focused attitude
Additional Requirements:
- Reliable personal transportation (public transportation, Uber, or rideshare not acceptable)
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (Required)
- Eligible for mileage reimbursement when traveling between sites
- Must be punctual and ready to work at any assigned location within the coverage area
Work Environment:
This is a mobile/float position covering multiple phlebotomy service sites in the Plantation, FL area. Candidates must be willing and able to adapt to same-day location changes and schedule adjustments. Training may occur at various locations based on trainer availability.
