Job Title: Applications Developer
Location: Chattanooga, TN (Remote Client Allowed State) 37402
Duration: 6 Months+

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science (or related field) or equivalent work experience required. Equivalent years of experience are determined as one year of technical experience for every year of college requested.
Skills:
  • Programming Knowledge: Core Java / C# / object-oriented / Node.js design.
  • Experience in design, development, and implementation of RESTful/SOAP web services using Java technologies.
  • Experience in API design principles, data serialization (JSON/XML), and authentication mechanisms (OAuth, JWT).
  • Passionate about working in a cloud environment like AWS / Azure / Google Cloud Platform.
 
SQL Skills:
  • Strong command of SQL for creating, querying, updating, and managing relational databases.
  • Knowledge of SQL concepts such as joins, subqueries, indexing, and optimization techniques.
  • Understanding of data modeling concepts, including entity-relationship diagrams (ERDs) and data flow diagrams.
 
Testing and Debugging:
  • Write and execute unit tests to validate the functionality of your code.
  • Identify and troubleshoot defects and issues, and work with the team to implement appropriate fixes.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and provide constructive feedback to peers.
 
Source Control / Build / Server / Testing / IDE Tools:
  • Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Azure Git, IBM RTC, TFS) and collaboration tools.
  • Familiarity with web services testing tools (e.g., SoapUI, Postman, JMeter, Insomnia).
  • Experience with database development tools such as SQL IDEs (SQL Server Management Studio, DBeaver).
  • Familiarity with IBM WebSphere Application Server (WAS).
  • Familiarity with Jenkins terminology: builds, pipelines, and plugins.
  • Familiarity with build tools like Apache Maven and Apache Ant for managing dependencies and building projects.
  • Experience with Integrated Development Environments (e.g., Eclipse IDE, IntelliJ JEE).
 
Software Development Skills:
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and practices.
  • Knowledge of Agile principles, Scrum framework, and other Agile methodologies.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Formulates and defines system product and objectives through research and fact-finding to design, develop, modify, or integrate information systems.
  • Devises or modifies application systems and procedures to optimize functional requirements including capacity, operating time, response time, and form of desired results.
  • Designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs, subroutines, and scripts.
  • Maintains technical skill set for software languages, databases, platforms, operating systems, utilities, and networks needed to support work assignments.
  • Responds to system failures and performance events by taking appropriate measures to reduce system downtime and eliminate recurrence of problems.
  • May conduct presentations to provide end users with knowledge to maximize their use of developed systems.
