FUNCTION:
Works at clinical sites under the supervision of a qualified medical physicist (QMP) on assigned duties.
Ensures high quality service through customer experience, on-site operations, follows procedure, performance of
practice standards. Implements and abides by customer service standards. Supports and demonstrates familycentered
care principles when interacting with customers and with co-workers.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The physicist will independently perform routine medical physics tasks. Physicist should be able to demonstrate
proficiency in and independently perform linear accelerator operation, linac quality assurance procedures, IMRT
QA procedures, patient chart QA procedures, and support special procedures relevant to the clinical site, such as
HDR, SRS, and SBRT. Medical Physics must also be proficient in linac calibration and commissioning. The
medical physicist must also have the ability to oversee day to day clinical operations, design policies and
procedures, and implement new technologies, as required by the clinical site.
The physicist is expected to complete competencies as they relate to the clinical tasks assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
Supervision from qualified medical physicist on site/remote.
CONTACTS:
Contact with employees and physicians in radiation oncology and the public requiring professionalism, tact,
diplomacy, and interventional planning. Patient confidentiality must be maintained at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Medical Physics or a closely related field required.
EXPERIENCE
ABR Certified. At a minimum, 3 years clinical experience post-certification and designation as an Authorized
Medical Physicist by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission or an Agreement State.
