Lab Technician II – Biology
Job Title: Lab Technician II – Biology
Location: Wyomissing, PA
Duration: 6 Months (Possible Temp to Perm)
Shift: Mon. – Fri. 8 am – 5 pm
Pay Range: $26/hr. on W2.
POSITION SUMMARY:
- Under minimal supervision, perform routine microbial testing, assist in maintaining equipment and calibration, prepare medias and microbial cultures, and ensure the lab remains operational.
- The Lab Technician will be required to work with potentially hazardous materials and/or disease-causing organisms and is expected to follow all laboratory safety guidelines.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform routine microbial testing (as needed), record all test data, analyze results, generate reports,
and share findings with test requestor.
• Prepare microbial medias.
• Make microbial cultures.
• Maintain, stock, and order lab supplies.
• Maintain lab equipment and instrumentation in good working condition.
• Work with Associate Scientists to keep equipment calibrations up to date.
• Sustain lab cleanliness and organization.
• Complete time sheets for supervisor in a timely manner.
• Record important laboratory information, findings, and data in a laboratory notebook
• Adhere to and ensure the compliance of Code of Ethics, all company policies, rules,
procedures, and standard housekeeping.
• Complete all training in a timely manner to remain in compliance.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Associate degree with 1-3 years laboratory experience
Bachelor’s degree in biology, microbiology preferred.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• Attention to details
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Preferred).
• Team oriented
• Good organization and multitasking skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work effectively in a small project team environment to meet aggressive timelines
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency and a willingness to take on additional responsibility.
