Job Title: Material Handler II
Location: Rockville, CA 20850
Duration: 10 months+ (possible extension) contract (Hybrid)
 
Pay Range: $18 to $22 hourly/on W2

Shift: Monday to Friday 8 am to 5 pm.
 
Job Description:
The Team, at the Rockville, MD site focuses on the receipt, inventory storage, withdrawal and shipment of biological specimens, samples, clinical agents, and materials from multiple commercial and government clients.
 
How Will You Make an Impact?
The Material Handler II supports operations by storing and shipping materials at temperatures ranging from ambient (room temperature) to -196 degrees C (−320.8 °F) with potentially hazardous properties.
 
A Day in the Life:

• Receive incoming raw materials.
• Facilitate movement of materials, including hazardous materials, across the site.
• Maintain accurate inventory through receipts, adjustments, and cycle counts.
• Efficiently and accurately perform material handling duties such as receiving, storing, and distributing materials and products.
• Maintain inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and proper documentation.
• Operate material handling equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, safely and efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and flawless execution of orders.
• Follow strict safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives to optimize warehouse operations.

 
Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

 
Experience:

• Required: Minimum of 1 year of work experience.
• Required: Experience in distribution, warehouse or supply chain or related field.
• Preferred: Experience with warehouse equipment.
• Proven experience in material handling, preferably in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment and obtain necessary certifications.
• Great precision in paying attention to details and skill in adhering to instructions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic computer skills.

• Able to work with methods to handle, process and store specimens using a computerized storage and retrieval system.

 
Physical Requirements / Work Environment:

• Work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infectious agents, and marked changes in temperature.
• Must use personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety protocols.
• Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push up to 70lbs.
• Periodically work in walk-in freezers and refrigerators for up to 5 hours per day.
