Job Summary
- The Medical Assistant (Float/PCP) is responsible for assisting medical staff and specialty care providers in the delivery of safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care within the client clinic environment.
- The Medical Assistant performs both clinical and administrative duties including patient intake, vital signs, specimen collection, exam room preparation, documentation support, clinical procedures, and coordination of patient care activities while supporting elderly and frail patient populations.
- This role requires strong communication skills, clinical knowledge, organizational ability, and the capability to work effectively within a fast-paced interdisciplinary outpatient setting.
- Assist providers and clinical staff with patient care activities.
- Prepare patients for appointments and clinical examinations.
- Take and document vital signs and patient history.
- Escort and room patients appropriately.
- Perform basic clinical procedures under provider supervision.
- Assist with dressing changes and suture removal.
- Collect and prepare laboratory specimens.
- Perform sterilization procedures for medical and dental equipment.
- Support specialty provider scheduling and patient flow coordination.
- Maintain clinic logs and exam room readiness.
- Monitor emergency carts and medication/vaccine refrigerator logs.
- Perform clinic equipment quality control checks.
- Provide patient education and support as directed.
- Assist with COVID testing procedures as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Athena and EMR systems.
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams.

- NCMA
- NRCMA
- California Certified MA
- BLS Certification
- Minimum 2 years Medical Assistant experience.
- Experience working with frail or elderly populations.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize in fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation.
- Clinical setting experience.
- Venipuncture experience.
- Urgent care experience.
- Home health/clinical setting experience.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
