Certified Medical Assistant Physician Services
Job Title: Certified Medical Assistant – Physician Services
Location: Hackensack, NJ, 07601
Duration: 07/21/2025 – 10/18/2025
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Schedule: 5 Days/Week, 40 Hours/Week
Float Position: Yes – Candidate may be asked to cover other practices in Paramus or Glen Ridge
Pay Range: $20 - $21/hr.
Job Summary:
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in providing clinical care to select patients under the supervision of the professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner and provides clerical office assistance.
Job Responsibilities:
• Prepares exam room, treatment room, supplies, and instruments
• Prepares patients for physician visit and examination, assisting as directed
• Takes patient’s vital signs and records in medical chart
• Understands proper function and care of special equipment
• Performs EKG, PFT, Audiometry, Titmus Test after evaluation checklist completion
• Performs UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab testing after evaluation checklist completion
• Maintains patient records; files records and reports
• Assists with collections and billing procedures as needed
• Uses computer software to maintain office systems
• Identifies and responds to issues of confidentiality
• Identifies the needs of the patient population served and adapts care accordingly
• Communicates with patients, parents, or caregivers appropriately to their level
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned
• Adheres to organizational competencies and standards of behavior
• Lifts a minimum of 5 lbs., pushes/pulls a minimum of 10 lbs., and stands a minimum of 6 hours/day
Education:
• High School Diploma or equivalent – Required
• Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program – Preferred
Licensure & Certifications:
• American Heart Association (AHA) BLS – Required
• One of the following – Required:
– CMA-NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
– CMA-NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
– CMA-AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
– RMA-AMT (American Medical Technologists)
– RMA-NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
– AMCA (American Medical Certification Association)
– NCMA (National Certification Medical Association)
Required Skills & Experience:
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with diverse populations
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures
• 3–5 years of experience required
• Cardiology experience – Preferred
