Lab Assistant - 3rd shift
Job Title: Lab Assistant - 3rd shift
Job Location: Tucker, GA
Job Duration: 3 Months (possibility of extension)
Shift:3rd Shift - 2:00 am to 10:30am
Tuesday to Saturday with every 3rd Sunday Rotation
Payrate: $19.78/ hr. on w2
Job Summary:
The Laboratory Assistant performs routine laboratory tasks in a precise and accurate manner to support laboratory professionals and ensure efficient production workflow in a high-volume environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Sort and receive specimens within the department

Centrifuge specimens and prepare them for testing
-
Build worklists and aliquot specimens into sample containers
-
Check specimens for clots and fibrin
-
Perform slide preparation and specimen inoculation
-
Print labels and manage specimen storage and retrieval
-
Record data such as temperature logs
-
Prepare reagents and media as needed
-
Perform routine instrument maintenance
-
Complete QA/QC duties as assigned
-
Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples
-
Decontaminate work areas
-
Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests
-
Maintain departmental records and files
-
Change gas cylinders
-
Dispose of biohazardous materials properly
-
Follow all PPE requirements and safety regulations
-
Operate laboratory computer systems and PCs
-
Complete required training and competency checklists
Education:
-
High school diploma or equivalent required
-
Medical assistant training preferred
-
Coursework in math and science preferred
Experience:
-
No prior experience required
Requirements & Skills:

Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently

Ability to retain and apply learned information
-
Excellent communication skills in English (spoken and written required)

Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred

Professional and courteous interaction with coworkers and customers

Must have reliable personal transportation and a valid driver’s license
(Bus, Uber, or rideshare services are not considered reliable transportation) -
Must be punctual and able to complete entire scheduled shifts
-
Excessive absenteeism or tardiness will result in termination
Work Environment:

High-volume, production-based laboratory setting
-
Repetitive tasks
-
PPE required when handling specimens (lab coat, mask, goggles, gloves, protective wear)

Medical terminology knowledge is a plus
